Who we cover

We insure the shops, crews and practices

that run Michigan.

Builders and tooling shops, kitchens and plow crews, property managers, clinics and haulers. We place their coverage with underwriters who already understand a Michigan winter and a Michigan supply chain, from desks in Brighton and Plymouth.

Business coverage, by what you do

The twelve classes of business we place most often in Michigan. Open one to see how we cover it.
Construction & the trades

Residential and commercial builders, concrete, electrical, roofing and mechanical. The certificate has to match the contract, and the subs have to be covered.

Automotive suppliers & manufacturing

Product liability and recall, tooling and dies you do not own, business interruption when one press goes down.

Restaurants & food service

A full bar changes the risk profile entirely. Add a hood fire, a walk-in that fails overnight, and a patio that earns a disproportionate share of the year's margin.

Landscaping & snow removal

Slip-and-fall claims from a January lot, hold-harmless language in every plowing contract, and seasonal payroll that swings.

Real estate & property management

One claim can arrive from any door in the portfolio. Management carries its own professional exposure, and every sidewalk is a February liability.

Retail & storefronts

Shops, boutiques and showrooms. A customer falls, stock is ruined, or the buildout you financed burns — and the doors stay shut while it is rebuilt.

Professional services

Firms, agencies, consultancies and accountants. The exposure is advice, not property — and a client file that gets breached.

Trucking & logistics

Motor truck cargo, filings, radius of operation, and driver hiring standards the carrier will actually audit.

Home services

Crews working unsupervised in somebody else's house, and a van full of equipment parked on the street at 2am.

Nonprofits & associations

Boards that need protecting, volunteers who need covering, and a fundraiser the venue will not let you hold without paperwork.

Auto service & repair

Independent shops, collision and tire. Someone else's car in your bay is a different coverage than your own building.

Medical & wellness practices

Dental, chiropractic, physical therapy, aesthetics and specialty clinics. We coordinate with your malpractice carrier rather than around it.

Your trade is not a tile? Ask anyway.

A grid of twelve is a starting point, not our appetite. Machine shops, distributors, churches, charter schools, staffing agencies, breweries, salons, self-storage — all of it sits in our book somewhere. Describe the operation and we will say plainly whether we are the right fit.

Five coverages nearly every Michigan business needs

01

General liability

The policy that answers when your work injures someone or damages their property, and the one that pays the lawyers — often the larger figure by far. It is also the coverage every contract, lease and purchase order wants evidence of.
02

Commercial property

Building, contents, machinery and stock, valued at today’s rebuild cost rather than last year’s appraisal. In Michigan the winter perils belong in that conversation in October: burst pipes, ice damming, roof collapse under snow load.
03

Workers' compensation

Treatment and wage replacement for an injured employee. Whether Michigan requires it of you turns on headcount and on hours worked, so the answer is rarely obvious — and a sub without coverage of their own can land on your payroll at audit time.
04

Commercial auto

Anything titled to the company, anything with your name on the door, and the borrowed or personal vehicle used on company time. Michigan’s no-fault PIP election reaches your fleet as well as your household, and the level chosen has consequences.
05

Umbrella

Liability limits layered above everything listed here. Treat it as required rather than optional: general contractors, municipalities and national accounts routinely make it a condition of the job.
Layered on top of those five come the endorsements your particular trade lives on: garagekeepers, dram shop, recall, cargo, professional liability, cyber, inland marine on the equipment. Tell us your operation and we will name the ones your contracts will demand.

How the relationship actually works

No parent company

We answer to the market, not a brand

No parent company decides where your submission goes. We send it to the markets with a genuine appetite for your class — and when a carrier's appetite shifts, as it does, we move you rather than defend them.

Paperwork

Certificates out the same day, usually

Forward the request along with the contract wording. Where your policy already supports it, the certificate normally goes out the same business day. Where it does not, you hear the cost of adding the endorsement immediately — not once you are already on site.

Year-end

Nobody faces the audit alone

Class codes, sub certificates, officer elections. We revise your payroll estimate as the year moves so the true-up is not a shock in month twelve, and we take a wrong classification up with the carrier ourselves.

In their words

“The entire staff has been extremely helpful and friendly throughout my entire transaction. Their knowledge of coverages was essential to help me make the right decisions for my needs.”
